thanks for visiting!

thanks for visiting my blog! check back often for up dates on the '10 season!

it was a long weekend with 50 mph gusts wind whipping through diablo on both days, lifts were closed for a few hours each day. but the race was still on! giant slalom was great, conditions were perfect! new features added to the Indy cross course were fun! sundays dh race was hectic, with bad winds and 40 degree weather. the lift was shut off in the AM but fortunately the lift ops were able to get them going at around 11, the weather cleared and the race was on.

i placed 1st in the giant slalom, had an awesome run, but placed 4th in the dh with a small crash near the top of the mountain. but hey thats racing for ya!

cant thank Hayes, Manitou, and Geax enough! bike was running awesome all weekend! cant wait to get some more time one it.

next stop U.S Open!

well in a nut shell, today was perfect, from the weather, new trails and my new bikes performance. i couldn't have been happier. my new dorado performed amazingly, beyond belief, it feels nearly bottomless, and is buttery smooth throughout the travel, makes me realize how sub par the competition really is. the breaks also performed flawlessly, wasn't really expecting ehat they threw at me to say the least.

here are some pictures from Dave Tufino ( WhoRyder.blogspot.com)

also, i hope everyone is getting ready to shred this coming weekend for the first diablo freeride park domination race!

The Hayes Bicycle Group is pleased to announce the official release of the 2010 Manitou Dorado Pro.
The Dorado Pro features 7050 aluminum legs and utilizes the same premium internals as the Dorado MRD carbon version. With premium durability, the Dorado Pro maintains its World Cup DH race pedigree. However, it’s not a typical DH race fork anymore. With the added strength of the 7050 aluminum legs, it becomes a very capable park, free-ride and big mountain fork. Along with proven TPC+ damping, the fork has plush top-out coupled with a unique hydraulic bottoming ramp-up that makes the fork feel bottomless.
Updates for 2010 include an improved two-chamber, large-volume, low-pressure air spring which simplifies set-up and optimizes fork performance. The air spring pressure is now tuned by using a single valve at the top of the fork eliminating the second valve at the bottom of the leg. The pressure in the two chambers auto-equalizes when a shock pump is connected offering ease of set up by adding and/or bleeding off air from the top. Also, all mount hardware features high grade bolts with deep hex broaches offering an improved tool inter-face, and the brake line guide has been improved for optimum routing.
Spec:

Weight: 6.55lbs

Travel: 180mm/203mm for 26”

175mm for 29”

Chassis: Alloy Legs & Crown

Spring: Dual Air Chamber

Damper: TPC+

Hub: 20mm Hex Lock

The 2010 Dorado Pro was designed and tested in California and North Vancouver and is handmade in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin, facility. The Hayes Bicycle Group will continue to offer a one-year service program which allows riders to return their fork for factory service and inspection at no charge (specific rules apply to factory service). All race support at the HBG race truck will remain free of charge as we continue to support race teams, free riders and privateers. MSRP for the Dorado Pro in 26” is $1,749 and $1,799 for the 29er version.

There's a new performance hose - a four layer low expansion hose to be precise - and a lighter two-piece caliper with pads being replacing without needing to remove the wheel first. Hayes 'tube tops' protect the paintwork where the hose rubs against the frame.
A new lighter two-piece rotor has been developed, weighing 110g for the 6in version, and new brake pads promise quieter performance. The rotor carries on the original Hayes sweeping-fin design

Available in Pro and Expert.
  • top loading pads
  • tool free reach adjust
  • tool free contact adjust
  • high-flow reservoir venting system
  • optional two piece floating rotor
  • titanium hardware on Pro model
  • Available Rotor Sizes: 140, 160, 180, 203, 224 (mm)
  • and more

check it out, i have been running the fork for a while now, and i cant say enough good things about it. i have been running a 9mm skewer prototype and even that was incredibly stiff, i cant imagine how much a 20mm axle can help! unlike most DJ specific forks the adjustments actually works, you can keep it stiff for the park or lighten it up for some slope style. weighing in at only 4.7 lbs it makes its self one of the lightest DJ forks on the market. travel is also adjustable between 80 and 130mm. i have been beating on the fork hard, and it hasn't given up on me yet, not one thing has gone wrong with it, as expected. manitou has been doing there homework!
